Issa Garba is co-coordinator of SLYCAN Trust in Niger. With experience of over a decade in climate change processes at national and international levels, Issa focuses his work on the empowerment of local actions that have implications to build long term climate resilience. Issa is also the National Coordinator of the Nigerian Youth Network on Climate Change (RJNCC) which he founded in 2010 which later became the representative of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC). He is the representative of civil society within this body of reflection and political orientation for the government of the National Environment Council for Sustainable Development of Niger. Issa holds a bachelor's degree in development communication from the Ecole Supérieure de Communication et de Management of Niger and has been trained on environmental leadership and climate change negotiations from the African Group Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES).
