EthicalX Food Cell Inception Workshop

18th May, 2022
02.30 p.m. - 05.30 p.m
Colombo, Sri Lanka

Introduction

Entrepreneurship contributes to economic empowerment and supports building resilience at local, national, and global level. Ethical, sustainable, and climate-friendly entrepreneurship, which builds on principles of inclusion and participation, could contribute to climate action and building multi-actor partnerships. The EthicalX initiative by SLYCAN Trust aims to support and scale up ethical, sustainable, and climate-friendly entrepreneurship through activities related to capacity-building, technical support provision, and support in raising seed funding with a special focus on vulnerable communities, women, and youth. The programme has a special focus on food systems, plant-based, cruelty-free, ethical, sustainable, and climate-friendly food choices and entrepreneurship.

Under the programme, the meeting of the EthicalX Food Systems Cell will be held to discuss the potential for scaling up plant-based, ethical, sustainable, and climate-friendly food production and consumption with entrepreneurs who are already having a food-related brand or business. The meeting also aims to identify support needs for scaling up business activities and strengthening Sri Lanka's start-up ecosystem.
