Introduction

Young people are driving the transformation towards sustainable agriculture amid the challenges posed by climate change. They possess the ability to employ inventive methods, push for policy adjustments, and put into effect robust approaches to safeguard food security. With knowledge and technology at their disposal, they have the potential to advance methods such as agroforestry, effective water conservation, and diverse crop cultivation. By actively engaging in initiatives, youth shape the trajectory of a more resilient and equitable food future.

The Global Youth Forum on Climate Change in collaboration with SLYCAN Trust Youth will be hosting a series of global thematic dialogues commencing from the month of August. The first dialogue focusing on Youth in Climate-resilient food systems will feature speakers who will be leading the discussion on Climate Policy Development, Risk Management, and Adaptation in Food Systems. Furthermore, a case study submission will be open for anyone who is interested in showcasing the work they have been engaged in on the topic of Food Systems. Selected participants will then have the opportunity to share their work at “The Global Research Dialogue on Innovative and Climate-friendly Food Systems” hosted by SLYCAN Trust in September.

Objectives

  • Empower youth by equipping them with knowledge, abilities, and a platform to actively contribute to food systems that are both sustainable and adaptable.
  • Foster the development of youth leaders who can advocate for policy transformations, awareness, and motivating others to embrace actions that support sustainable food systems.
  • Create a supportive community for learning and collaboration by connecting youth with shared interests in climate-resilient food systems.
