National Programme on Supporting Ethical, Sustainable & Climate-friendly Entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka

Introduction

Climate change presents a defining challenge of the 21 st Century as well as an opportunity to
accelerate an economic transition and leverage finance, technology, and innovation. Knowledge,
skills, and competencies related to climate change mitigation, adaptation, sustainability, and risk
management are increasingly vital for all sectors, and entrepreneurship can serve as a key
catalyst for climate-friendly, resilient, and sustainable development.

Mainstreaming climate change into entrepreneurship at national and local level in Sri Lanka will
play a crucial role in building long term resilience of communities and the country’s economic
development. Awareness creation and capacity building on climate risk management; ethical and
sustainable entrepreneurial practices; and integration of entrepreneurial skills development
interlinked with climate action are vital for supporting action aimed at climate resilience building
and economic empowerment.

sustainable development, climate risk management and climate resilience building. Through
partnerships and models for climate-friendly entrepreneurship; fostering capacity building and
