The Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) was established in the Paris Agreement (Article 7, paragraph 1) as an aspirational goal to enhance adaptive capacity, strengthen resilience, and reduce vulnerability to climate change, with a view to contributing to sustainable development and aligning with the goal of keeping global temperature rise below 2 or ideally 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The need to mainstream considerations related to intergenerational equity, gender equality, and social inclusion has surfaced in the GGA discussions as an important aspect to be embedded in the GGA framework.

With this information brief, SLYCAN Trust aims to contribute to strengthening the inclusion and empowerment of the most vulnerable groups and populations, with a particular focus on youth stakeholders and youth engagement in the UNFCCC process. The brief identifies key approaches and avenues for engaging youth in GGA-related work and processes and scaling up inclusion and public participation.
