Preparing the Gender Action Plan, and focusing on Gender in COP23

The ongoing 23rd Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) marks two years since the signing of the Paris Agreement (PA). While the call for accelerated action on climate change and the commitments to the PA have been gaining attention, COP23 is also an important landmark year in terms several other processes, including gender. ‍

Gender Action Plan Adopted at COP23

On the 14th of November, the first ever Gender Action Plan to the UNFCCC was adopted by Parties at the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), making COP23 a landmark year in terms of gender-related mandates under the UNFCCC processes.
